Over 22,700 foreign citizens live and work in Albania. This number was reported as of June, and the figure hits a record for the country, as 2025 ended with 18,000 individuals.

The number of foreigners with work permits is led by citizens from the Philippines, India and Egypt. These countries together have 10,300 unique permits for employees, accounting for about 50% of the total number of employees in the country, Euronewsalbania reports.

Specifically, the number of foreigners from the Philippines reached 3,600 citizens by June 2026, constituting about 16% of the total number of foreigners employed in the country. Behind them are citizens from India with 3,400 employees or 15% of the total. Furthermore, citizens from Egypt, Turkey and Italy follow the list of foreigners employed in our country.

Many of them are employed in bars and restaurants in positions such as waiters, cleaners or cooks. Other jobs have also been made in manufacturing factories, which are hiring young engineers from India.

While citizens from Egypt are increasingly being employed in the transportation, livestock, and agritourism sectors.

Also, the employment of foreigners has increasingly expanded into families. Female citizens from the Philippines are being employed as childcare, elderly care or housekeepers. Italians and citizens of Kosovo continue to lead self-employment.
