Israeli officials have published a map of the range of Iranian missiles, claiming they can “reach” as far as Europe, including North Macedonia.
The risk of war in the Middle East took a worrying turn.
What began as US and Israeli attacks on Iran has turned into one of the most serious geopolitical crises of recent decades, with consequences that transcend the borders of the Region.
Israeli and Western officials said Iranian ballistic missiles have the capacity to reach targets not only in the Middle East but also deep into Europe.
In a statement, Israel’s Foreign Ministry warned that Iran’s missile capabilities “shine beyond the Middle East,” and described the regime in Tehran as a growing threat to world peace.
In a graphic published by the Center for Strategic and Defense Studies, a map with different strike radii is displayed, ranging from about 300 to about 2500 kilometers, which places a significant part of Southeast Europe within the threat potential.
The most dangerous are considered medium- and long-range ballistic missiles, such as the Shahab-3 and Ghadr-110, which according to estimates can reach up to about 2000 kilometers.
According to the map, within this risk are capitals such as Athens, Sofia and Bucharest, but also other cities in the Western Balkans.
In the wider theoretical range, capitals such as Budapest, Vienna, Warsaw and Bratislava could also be included (provided that the distance considered is maximum).
However, independent analysts warn that these multi-range missiles are theoretical and do not necessarily mean that they will automatically hit these targets, as operational capability also depends on factors such as accuracy, air control obstacles, and tactical conditions.
