American billionaire and Tesla owner Elon Musk declared that Belgium’s capital, Brussels, is “no longer Belgian.”
His comment came after the results of a survey by the Belgian portal “Immigratiebarometer”, which monitors demographic issues and immigration in the country.
According to the portal, the main immigration channel to enter Belgium remains family reunification. Since 2018, there have been an average of around 56 family reunifications each year.
Only during the COVID-19 pandemic was there a decline, while in 2024 a record was recorded with 59,873 families being reunited.
Musk’s comment came in response to a post by Mario Nawfal, founder of IBS Group, who noted that almost three out of four children in Brussels are now of non-European origin. He stressed that this is fundamentally changing the composition of the city’s population and has profound social consequences.
According to Nawfal, most of the minors are not of Belgian origin, thus reshaping the future population.
He argued that this phenomenon is not accidental, but the result of deliberate political choices by elites who ignored warnings.
When a capital city has a majority population with foreign roots, integration becomes difficult, while what is happening in Brussels is described as demographic replacement, not simply diversity management.
