Quantum computers offer calculations a thousand times faster and without errors in real applications. By reducing the time needed to perform calculations, the risk of the system being affected by external elements is also reduced, thus avoiding the loss of information. The result of the work is from a working group from Chalmers University of Technology, published in the journal Physical Review Letters.
This is considered an important step forward that will make it possible to overcome one of the biggest obstacles for quantum computers, which are extremely sensitive to errors and external disturbances.
The authors of the study this time, instead of the traditional application of storing quantum information in individual qubits, have used so-called quantum lattice gates. These are a series of commands that change the state of the qubits and make them communicate with each other in order to process information. In this way, the connections between them have influenced the operations to be faster and more efficient.
