The first laser antenna that transmits radio waves is created

The first laser antenna that transmits radio waves is created. Called a plasma band antenna, it is tunable based on needs, thus able to transmit over a wide range of frequencies.
The first tests and successful results carried out by the University of North Carolina in the USA have been published in the Journal of Microwaves.
This achievement opens up a number of promising avenues where these antennas can be applied in the space field, from satellites to space exploration technologies, where their characteristics could be very valuable and helpful for other discoveries. It is a new concept that is considered exciting, and that makes it possible to customize antennas while avoiding the complexity of mechanical mechanisms.
