The number of billionaires in the world is constantly growing and their wealth is growing rapidly, according to a report published by the aid and development organization Oxfam on the eve of the World Economic Forum that begins today in Davos, Switzerland.
According to the report, approximately 3,000 billionaires worldwide owned a combined wealth of US$18.3 trillion last year, albinfo.ch reports.
Since 2020, their wealth has increased by more than 80 percent in real terms. At the same time, almost half of humanity lives in poverty, Oxfam points out, writes srf.ch.
The twelve richest people now have more money than the poorest half of the world’s population, which is more than four billion people, Oxfam explains.
