After only four months, the clash between US President Donald Trump and activist Greta Thunberg is back. Trump criticizes the Swedish activist after her participation in the flotilla’s humanitarian mission, which brought aid to the Palestinians. “Doesn’t she care about the environment anymore?!” Trump told reporters. “Now she’s busy with this. It’s problematic! She has anger management problems. I think she should go to a doctor. She’s full of anger. She’s young, but very angry, out of control. It’s just a problem,” added the Head of the White House.
Greta Thunberg responded on Instagram with her characteristic irony: “I heard that Donald Trump has again expressed his beautiful thoughts about my character and I appreciate his concern for my mental health. I would like to take his advice on how to overcome these so-called ‘anger management problems’, as from his experience it seems that he also suffers from the same thing.”
The verbal conflict between them has been going on for 6 years. It began in 2019, when Greta was named Time’s “Person of the Year”. Trump mocked her on Twitter, telling her to “work on her anger issues and watch an old movie with her friends”. Greta responded in November 2020: “Donald needs to work on his anger issues and then watch a nice movie with a friend! Calm down Donald, calm down”! Her tweet received over 450 likes, more than double the president’s. Their first public meeting was in 2019, in New York, where body language spoke louder than any words.
In June of this year, Trump attacked again, calling Greta an angry girl and suggesting she take a course on anger management. Greta responded with irony: “I think the world really needs a lot more angry girls, especially with everything that’s going on right now. That’s exactly what we need the most!”
