So far, 55.154 hectares of land have been burned in the fires that have engulfed Albania, making the country the largest in the Region in terms of total burned areas.
“The year 2025 recorded the blackest record for damage caused by fires in the last five years. Last year, 46.623 hectares were burned in the country, while in previous years there were lower numbers. The record numbers for the largest areas ever burned by fires in Albania were observed in 2007 with 127.491 hectares, in 2011 54.370, while in 2012 53.459 hectares,” euronews.al reported.
Referring to the European mechanism, “after Albania in terms of burned areas is Bosnia and Herzegovina with 26.705 hectares, Macedonia 26.522, Montenegro 24.054, Serbia 21.211, Kosovo 11.892 and Croatia 2.944 hectares.”
In Albania, the fire situation has significantly improved in recent days.
The Ministry of Defense informed that five fires were registered today, of which five are active, while two are under surveillance.
