China releases ‘robot wolves’ as war machines

China has been conducting military exercises using “robot wolves” amid concerns that it could be preparing to invade Taiwan. The People’s Liberation Army has said it is testing a new warfare tactic involving the use of robots, the DailyMail reported. Footage released showed the so-called “robot wolves” being used in coastal assault drills.

Four-legged devices are being developed with the aim of replacing human soldiers to reduce casualties in war.

These robots are able to pass through barbed wire and other obstacles with ease, allowing the military to use them similarly to drones, which have become an essential tactic in warfare. According to Chinese media, the devices can fire with precision and operate in difficult terrain. Weighing 70 kilograms, the robots can hit targets up to 100 meters away.
