During his speech at the World Economic Forum in Davos, US President Donald Trump expressed his criticism and complaints about the European Union. Trump said that he ‘loves Europe, but he has very big complaints about the European Union’. Trump was asked at the Forum about American economic growth and how he plans to keep American markets in line with Europe. The US President said through a direct link that “his friends in Europe complain about the long time it takes for some actions or procedures to be approved in the EU”. Trump referred to a personal example. He said that for a project approval that he needed, Ireland approved it in a week, but if it had to be approved in the EU, then the approval would have been made in 5 or 6 years.
As for America, Trump said the EU treats the US “very unfairly and very badly and that he has very big complaints.”
“They have a big tax and a big VAT tax,” said Trump. The US president said that the EU does not import American products, such as agricultural products and heavy industry (cars). He said that the EU imposes high tariffs on American products, while emphasizing that the EU, according to him, treats the US very unfairly and very badly. “They basically do not take our agricultural products or our cars. They put tariffs on our products. I love Europe, I love the countries of Europe, but the process is difficult and they treat the US very unfairly with the taxes they impose,” said Trump.
