This is the “sting,” the Ukrainian interceptor drone that is shooting down Shahed drones en masse. With a speed of 280 kilometers per hour and a range of 37 kilometers, this device is designed to destroy aerial targets through direct collision. As of June 2025, the manufacturing company reports that it has shot down over 3 Russian drones. The innovation lies not only in speed, but also in cost. While an Iranian Shahed drone costs up to $50, the Ukrainian interceptor costs ten times less, offering an economical solution for a war of attrition.
“You can’t describe it in words, you have to feel its power in the controls. If you know how to use a regular FPV drone, it only takes three or four days of training to master this interceptor. It’s simple, fast and deadly to the target,” the pilot said.
The success on the battlefield has turned the eyes of the Middle East to Kiev. Since the start of the Gulf conflict on February 28, which has seen more than 2 drone attacks on US energy infrastructure and bases, demand for Ukrainian technology has increased significantly. However, the company “Wild Hornets” remains cautious, although the demand is high, the export will only be allowed after the green light from the Ukrainian government. Kiev intends to use this technological advantage as a way to get more Patriot defense systems from the West.
“Our absolute priority remains the defense of Ukraine. We have not started direct negotiations with foreign customers without the approval of the state. If the government decides to give us the green light in exchange for military support for our country, we are ready to increase production,” said the representative of “Wild Hornets”. Currently, over 10 thousand “STING” units come off the production lines every month. Meanwhile, engineers have already tested the second generation, capable of hitting even drones with jet engines.
