Vučić expects serious consequences, USA sanctions Serbian oil industry with Russian links

The United States of America has imposed sanctions on the Serbian oil industry, due to Russian ownership by Gazprom. This was confirmed by President Aleksandar Vučić himself, who confirmed that he was officially notified of the decision that comes into force on January 1, but he has not yet seen a document.

“We need to talk to the Americans first, get the letter. We also have some kind of official confirmation, but we need to see the documents. After we read them, we will talk to the Americans first, then we go and talk to the Russians,” says Vučić.

The Serbian president warned of serious consequences if something does not change in the American decision. However, he refused to impose sanctions against Russia, which is also demanded by the European Union, in addition to America.

“I am not ready at this moment to discuss possible sanctions against Moscow,” he said, announcing that he will try to maintain relations with his historical ally, but also with the United States. Vučić added, among other things, that he expects Great Britain to join the American sanctions against the Serbian oil industry.
