Even romantic acquaintances with Artificial Intelligence

Another change that is being noticed among Generation Z is the way they spend their free time. According to dating specialists, today’s young people are less connected to nightlife and alcohol culture compared to previous generations.

Generation Z is increasingly facing difficulties in forming romantic relationships, while experts note that many young people are turning to Artificial Intelligence tools to help them start conversations and make new contacts. According to Jackie Jantos, head of one of the platforms Hinge, today’s young people continue to seek love and serious relationships, but often lack the confidence to take the first step. She argues that the younger generation socializes less physically compared to previous generations, spending more time in front of screens and less time in direct interactions with people. According to her, this has affected the social skills of many young people, especially in forming romantic relationships. The Covid-19 pandemic further worsened the situation, as many young people missed out on important years of social development.

“The years when people learn how to communicate, flirt and create intimacy with others have been interrupted for many young people,” she said. Meanwhile, researchers who study relationships and communication note that the former enthusiasm for dating apps has begun to fade. Many users report what experts call “dating app fatigue,” as they are faced with a large number of profiles and choices, but not necessarily with better quality connections.

Professor Carolina Bandinelli, who studies relationships and communication, says that the apps were introduced as a way to give singles access to an almost infinite number of people, but in practice the process often turns out to be more complicated. “In many cases you are not choosing, but guessing. The lack of social signals makes it difficult to form a clear idea of the person you are in front of,” she explains. For this reason, some platforms have started to use Artificial Intelligence tools that help users improve their profiles or find easier ways to start a conversation. However, experts emphasize that technology can help in making initial contact, but it cannot replace real communication and building an authentic relationship.

Another change being noticed among Generation Z is the way they spend their free time. According to dating specialists, today’s young people are less connected to nightlife and alcohol culture compared to previous generations.

“They are more likely to spend the evening at the gym than in a bar,” experts say, emphasizing that this has also changed the way acquaintances and romantic relationships are created. While technology is playing an increasingly large role in the sentimental lives of young people, specialists agree on one thing, that despite applications and Artificial Intelligence, people continue to seek honest connections and lasting relationships.
