NATO should be prepared for war with Russia

NATO must be prepared for a war with Russia. That was the warning of British Defense Secretary Wes Streeting during a visit to Warsaw. Streeting said the Euro-Atlantic alliance does not want war, but pointed to Russian state-sponsored terrorism against NATO members.

“I have warned citizens in the United Kingdom that we must be prepared for a scenario in which the United Kingdom and the NATO alliance could find themselves at war with Russia. NATO is a defensive alliance. But when Putin gives assurances that he has no intention of provoking a war with NATO, we are reminded of what he said about Ukraine just days before the invasion. And we see clearly the state-sponsored terrorism that the Kremlin is coordinating against NATO members,” said the UK’s Defence Secretary, Wes Streeting.

Poland and other NATO states in Central and Eastern Europe have accused Russia of acts of sabotage and “hybrid warfare” against them.

During the visit to Warsaw, Streeting and his Polish counterpart signed a defense agreement between the United Kingdom and Poland. Polish Defense Minister Vladislav Koshiniak Kamyz said that Warsaw will push London to move closer to the European Union and join the union’s defense initiatives.
