Android phones that will support wireless charging with the new Qi2 standard and magnetic attachment may soon be ready for the market. According to recent reports, Google is planning to bring this technology to its upcoming model, the Google Pixel 10, thus opening a new chapter in the way Android phones charge wirelessly. The Qi2 standard, which was first introduced at the CES technology fair in 2023, is the result of close collaboration between major companies, including Apple, which has played a key role in developing this advanced protocol for wireless charging with magnetic attachment.
Although there have been no phones from Samsung, Google, or Motorola that have included it in their 2024 lineups so far, that’s likely to change soon. If magnetic profiles are included, as is rumored, the Pixelsnap charging stand could be the successor to Google’s Pixel Stand, allowing users to magnetically place their phones on the stand while charging wirelessly. Android Authority also reports that the Pixel 10 will support Qi 2.2, with a maximum charging speed of 60W supported by the hardware.
