After prison sentence, 49% of French want Marine Le Pen to run for president

Within a month, the percentage of French people who want Marine Le Pen to run for President has increased by 7%, despite the court’s decision to jail the leader of the National Front for 4 years after she was convicted of embezzlement of public funds.

Almost one in two French people (49%) want Marine Le Pen to run in the next presidential election, according to an Ifop-Fiducial poll for Sud Radio, conducted following her conviction in a case involving aides to MEPs.

The vast majority (79%) of respondents consider Marine Le Pen to belong to the far right.

The poll was conducted online on April 1 and 2 among a representative sample of the French population of 1000 people aged 18 and over. The margin of error is 2.8 to 3.1 points.
