Rutte: I asked Vučić to account for the attack in Banjska

NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte has said that the security situation in Kosovo is very important to them.

“I did not make a direct connection to the situation in Kosovo, because I think KFOR is important, the EU forces in Bosnia and Herzegovina are important, they work closely together, so the security situation in Kosovo is very important for us,” Rutte said at a press conference.

He further stated that he asked the Serbs to work towards accountability for the attack in Banjska.

“We must ensure that the stability achieved since 1999 continues. Regarding the events in Banjska and the attack on NATO forces in 2023, the Serbs must work to hold themselves accountable. This was the topic of our discussion with President Vučić on the phone, as well as during the dinner we had in Brussels two weeks ago,” Rutte said.

On the other hand, Rutte has not commented on the recent defense agreement between Kosovo, Albania and Croatia, as well as the one between Serbia and Hungary.

“There are many such bilateral, trilateral agreements, like the one between Albania, Kosovo and Croatia, and this one is coming now,” Rutte said.
