Serbia and Hungary with political statement and six agreements

Serbia and Hungary have signed a joint political declaration and six agreements, after a meeting of the Council for Strategic Cooperation between the two countries on Thursday in Budapest. This was the second meeting of the Council for Strategic Cooperation of Serbia and Hungary, after which the Serbian President, Aleksandar Vucic, and the Hungarian Prime Minister, Viktor Orban, signed the joint political statement. Orban said that Serbia and Hungary are linked by friendly relations and that they see a new chance in the “new reality” in the world that has opened up after Donald Trump won the election in the United States last week. “Now we have a new situation in the world. We call this the new reality caused by the result of the American elections. Now the new forces that have been suppressed until now will be successful,” Orban said.

Meanwhile, Serbian and Hungarian ministers signed six agreements in the presence of Vucic and Orbani. Among them the Agreement for International Legal Assistance in Civil Matters and the Cooperation Program in the field of culture for the period 2024-2027.

Before the meeting of the Council for Strategic Cooperation, Vucic was received in Budapest by Prime Minister Orban in a bilateral meeting. The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, was hosted in a meeting in Budapest on Thursday by the Prime Minister of Hungary, Viktor Orban, on the eve of a session of the Strategic Council for Cooperation between the two countries. Vucic wrote on his Instagram account that Orbani and his Government “are not only strategic and political partners of Serbia, but also sincere friends”. Vucic’s office has announced that members of the governments will also participate in the Council session, who will sign a series of bilateral documents after the session.
